Myth - Psoriasis is just dry skin

KDAH

One common misconception about psoriasis is that it's merely dry skin. In reality, it's a chronic autoimmune condition that leads to the rapid growth of skin cells which causes an accumulation of cells on the skin's surface, resulting in patches that can be red, inflamed, itchy, and sometimes covered with silvery scales. While dry skin can be a symptom of psoriasis, the condition involves an immune system malfunction where the body attacks healthy skin cells by mistake leading to the accelerated growth of skin cells, causing the characteristic patches and other symptoms.
